Puerto Vallarta

Last weekend we went to Puerto Vallarta, a beautiful vacation spot on the west coast of Mexico.

Interestingly, events from the week before put the city on the map. The largest hurricane ever recorded barreled towards Puerto Vallarta on the 23rd and we had no idea what kind of damage it would bring.  A taxi driver we met called the hurricanes landfall "a rainy day, with not so much wind".  Thus, it did not devastate the area.  Mountains broke up the storm, the city was saved and we went to one of its many all inclusive beach resorts.

Highlights from the trip include: Boogie boarding in the warm ocean.  Beach volleyball.  Catch football pretty much everywhere.  Los Olivos - the resorts best restaurant where Luke, Kels, Christine and I enjoyed nearly 3.5 hours that seemed like 30 minutes.  Using "Spanish" with Luke. Spending time with other guests - many from Mexico, and some from Canada and the US.  Pool and beach lounging.  Eating at a authentic local Mexican restaurant away of the city center. The Latino heritage dancing.  The Halloween theater show.  Walking the boardwalk. Relaxing with good friends in an area where people were especially thankful to have their families, lively hood, and city in tact.
